The nonprofit historic 1885 Music Hall, in collaboration with KJK Productions, is pleased to invite 9th graders – college seniors to participate in The Wedding Singer from June 25 to August 6, 2022 at The Music Hall.
Director: Jordan Singer
The Wedding Singer takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room. Based on the hit Adam Sandler movie, The Wedding Singer’ssparkling new score does for the ’80s what Hairspray did for the ’60s. Just say yes to the most romantic musical in twenty years. It’s 1985, and rock star wannabe, Robbie Hart, is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer. He’s the life of the party until his own fiancée leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. As luck would have it, Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and, unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever.

The two-week program promises to offer students a meaningful theatrical experience that builds teamwork and self-esteem. In addition to preparing for the performance, the children will be instructed in basic acting techniques, improvisation, scene study, direction and theatre games.
Rehearsals are 6pm – 9pm Mondays – Fridays for two weeks. The cost for the program is $400/child. If you are NOT able to afford this fee, we offer a “Pay What You Can” policy in lieu of scholarships and you may choose the amount that enables you to participate. Amounts are in increments from $200 – $400 for the two-week program.
If you are able to afford the $400 fee, we ask you to please select this amount so that the nonprofit Music Hall’s Academy programs may be sustainable.
If you elect to pay more than $400, the amount over $400 will be considered a tax-deductible donation and will go towards our Education Fund to help students in need.
