The Sound of Music Workshop/Camp 2022

The nonprofit historic 1885 Music Hall, in collaboration with KJK Productions, is pleased to invite 1st – 8th graders to participate in The Sound of Music Workshop/Camp from July 25 – August 5, 2022 at The Music Hall.

Director: Jordan Singer

A tuneful, heartwarming story, The Sound of Music is based on the real life story of the Von Trapp Family singers, one of the world’s best-known concert groups in the era immediately preceding World War II. Julie Andrews plays the role of Maria, the tomboyish postulant at an Austrian abbey who becomes a governess in the home of a widowed naval captain with seven children, and brings a new love of life and music into the home.

The two-week program promises to offer students a meaningful theatrical experience that builds teamwork and self-esteem. In addition to preparing for the performance, the children will be instructed in basic acting techniques, improvisation, scene study, direction and theatre games and will be give the opportunity to engage in arts and crafts.

Participation is on a first come first served basis. Once you have registered, you will be prompted to submit a video using provided lines and lyrics for casting purposes.

Rehearsals/activities are 9am – 3pm Mondays – Fridays for two weeks. The cost for the program is $800/child. If you are NOT able to afford this fee, we offer a “Pay What You Can” policy in lieu of scholarships and you may choose the amount that enables you to participate. Amounts are in increments from $200 – $800 for the two-week workshop/camp.
If you are able to afford the $800 fee, we ask you to please select this amount so that the nonprofit Music Hall’s Academy programs may be sustainable.
