BIG NEWS! THE MUSIC HALL HAS SECURED AN ADDITIONAL HOME FOR THE MUSIC HALL ACADEMY!
The Tarrytown Music Hall’s educational programs have been bursting at the seams for years and we are in need of additional space, so we are pleased to announce that The Friends of the Mozartina, the nonprofit organization that owns and operates The Tarrytown Music Hall, purchased The Veterans Memorial Building at 57 Main Street, Tarrytown on December 10, 2025, for the purpose of establishing a center for the performing arts.
HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS — AND FROM NOW ON!
The Hillcrest Theater, long known as The Veteran’s Memorial Building, was built as a movie theater in 1912. In the 1920’s, Robert Goldblatt, the then owner of The Tarrytown Music Hall, acquired the Hillcrest Theater, presumably to squash the competition. He sold the theater to the Veterans for $1 in the 1950’s and it was their center of operations for several decades. It then lay vacant for many years.
When the Veterans passed on, we hoped the building would be returned to the Music Hall for the same $1, but it instead passed to Diamond Properties of Mt Kisco, which turned around and sold it to the Music Hall for $1 plus several zeros …
The structure will require about two million dollars worth of work until it is functional and operable. Once renovated, the space will primarily be used for our Circus Arts educational programs as well as for our Music, Theater and Dance classes and rehearsals. The space will also be available for professional Comedy, Music, Theater and Film Presentations, Receptions and Community Events.

We are eternally grateful to long-time Music Hall Member Peter Fisch, who is a partner in the Real Estate Department of Manhattan’s Paul Weiss Law Firm. Paul Weiss donated ALL time and services of Peter and his colleague Konstantine Tettonis, making it possible for the Music Hall to acquire the building. Peter has recently accepted a position on the nonprofit Music Hall Board of Directors. We would also like to thank Michael J Roberts Esq, Chief Operating Officer of for assisting with the transaction.
And thank you to The Music Hall Board, Music Hall employees Amissa Rybak and Sylviane Sherwin and everyone on the staff for steadfastly pursuing the vision of a second performing arts venue on Tarrytown’s Main Street.

First, the name… The theater’s name is up for grabs to anyone who feels inclined to make a lead gift towards the purchase and renovations of this space. For now, the theater will be referred to as The Hillcrest Theater, formerly The Veteran’s Memorial Building. Please contact us if you have interest.

Our hope is that The Hillcrest Theater will be a welcome addition to Main Street, providing a learning and gathering place for children and adults, and keeping the restaurants and shops busy and full.
