A Message from Academy Director
July 8, 2020
Under normal circumstances kids need healthy and creative outlets. They seek out friends, shared experiences, interactions and fun. Today they need these outlets more than ever.
The Music Hall Academy understands the creative needs of young people. That’s why we’re offering a wide variety of online theater arts programs to let kids dive into the creative process, make new friends and just have fun being kids! Typically, we reinvest ticket income into our education programs, but with that source of revenue interrupted, we need your support.
We acted quickly to move our theater arts program offstage and online when the pandemic reached New York in mid-March. Kids grades Pre-K – 12 have had access to free & low cost workshops on Shakespeare, Creative Writing, Science Fiction, Morning Story Time, Circus Arts, Theater 101, Playwriting, Voice, Singing, Acting, Scene Work, Audition Prep and more! Our online classes provide the summer fun without the inherent risks of in person classes. The online classes also boost creativity with guided instruction and nurture the same camaraderie and bonding that young people get from the live rehearsal and performance process.
To assure we can continue to offer these online programs, The Academy needs your help. We fully understand how challenging and difficult these times are for all of us. However, if you are able to support us now, hundreds of kids will be able to enjoy a program that provides a creative outlet, learning experiences, positive interactions and the fun that kids so desperately need right now.
Thank you for your generosity, thoughtfulness and support. It will help The Music Hall Academy continue to do great work. And the kids will thank you, too.
Online workshops for grades 2 – 12 are still happening this summer, with Creative Writing, Acting, Singing and Circus! To learn more about The Academy or register for workshops, visit tarrytownmusichall.org/academy.
