MUSIC HALL ACCESSIBILITY

The Music Hall was built in 1885 and presents many challenges in terms of meeting the facility requirements we place on today's buildings. We are working to address the accessibility shortcomings of the theater and the backstage area as soon as possible. Below is a brief description of where we are today. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Executive Director Bjorn Olsson: bjorn@tarrytownmusichall.org or (914) 631-8390.

BUYING TICKETS: For patrons in wheelchairs, there are seats reserved for all shows on the left side of ORCHESTRA LEFT. Please call (877) 840-0457 or (914) 631-8390 to reserve these seats.

UPGRADE INFO: We are planning to build accessible seating in a more attractive locations in the theater. We are required by the Fire Dept to locate wheelchairs close to exits and will be consulting them to reach a good solution.

PARKING: There is a reserved parking space on Main Street for vehicles with disabled drivers. It is located the next block down from The Music Hall, in front the restaurant "A Taste Of China"

ENTERING: There are no stairs leading in to the main Orchestra Level of the theater. The entrance is a downhill slope. The sloping angle is steeper than an ADA-ramp, so if you are in a wheelchair, you may need some assistance going up or down. There are no elevators, so the balcony level is not wheelchair-accessible.

RESTROOMS: Both of our restrooms are located about 6 steps below the orchestra level and are therefore not accessible for everyone.

UPGRADE INFO: Creating an accessible restroom is our top-priority upgrade project. We hope to achieve this in 2008.

BACKSTAGE: Dressing Rooms can be accessed by wheelchair with some effort. Restrooms are small, but there are no stairs. There is a short staircase leading up to the stage level. The stage is slightly raked.
